




Overview of the BS in Biology Degree Program
Unlock an exciting career in science or medicine with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Neumann University.
At Neumann, we prioritize hands-on experiences for our biology students. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to learn by doing in your interactive college biology classes and internships.
Choose from three options to prepare for your target career: Biology, Biology with Clinical Lab Science, and Pre-Medicine.
You can also choose to participate in one of our pre-professional programs available to biology majors. Our special pre-med advising program helps you make sure you graduate prepared for medical school. Meanwhile, our pre-chiropractic, pre-podiatric and pre-pharmacy programs help you earn your advanced degree early, with preferential admissions to respected graduate schools.
Whatever track you choose for your biology degree, you’ll graduate with a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of how to apply biological sciences to your future career.
Study under renowned faculty — including faculty with specialties is marine biology, pathogenic microbiology/animal models, bacteriophage, bioorganic and organic chemistry, and pharmacology, — and do real scientific work as part of your college biology major. This type of research includes invasive species, citizen scientists, and the SEA-PHAGES program. Plus, all biology students will have the opportunity to work in off-campus settings through an internship before graduating.

Have completed Algebra II with a grade of a “C” or better. If Algebra II was not completed, then the student is required to take both MATH103 College Algebra at the same time as CHEM107/117 General Chemistry I w/lab.

What are the certification exams?
Students in the clinical laboratory science track will graduate prepared to take the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification Examination for Medical Laboratory Scientists (MLS).
Secondary education students will complete all their secondary teacher certification requirements, including student teaching, and will be able to take the PRAXIS II exam to be certified as a biology and/or general science teacher.
There are no other certifications required for undergraduate college biology degrees.
