Applicant Process:

Students applying for transfer into the Nursing program should pay close attention to the Application process according to your program of choice. Admission to the Nursing program is highly competitive and a wait list will not be generated. It is the student’s responsibility to have all application materials submitted to the Office of Admissions. Be sure to make arrangements to have your official transcript(s) submitted. Neumann University operates on rolling admissions.  Decisions will be made on a first come, first serve basis once an application is complete.  Enrollment spaces are limited.

Please review your BSN program option below for application review periods.

Applicants must submit:

  1. An application, (free if you apply online)

  2. Copies of all official post-secondary transcripts

  3. A final high school transcript (if student has not yet attained an associate’s degree)

  4. Applicants for the RN to BSN program must also submit a copy of their RN license.

*Transferable credits must be non-developmental and credit bearing and grades of C- or below will not transfer. Additionally, courses must be taken at a regionally accredited institution in order for them to transfer.

All non-native English speaking applicants born outside the U.S. (International applicants, immigrants to the U.S. and U.S. permanent residents) must also submit scores from the iBt (Internet Based Test) TOEFL examination or Duolingo English Test (DET). Those students who have completed ESL courses at a previous institution must also submit test scores. The examinations may be taken more than once and TOEFL overall score of 84 or higher will be required with a score of 26 in the verbal section. If completing the Duolingo test, an overall minimum score of 110 is required.

Once you have been admitted, you will be instructed to contact the Nursing advisor. At that time, your Nursing advisor will discuss your progression through the program and how much time it will take for you to complete the program.

Admission Criteria

For admissions consideration, a transfer Nursing applicant must demonstrate a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (from all institutions attended) of 2.7 or higher and a cumulative science grade of 3.0 or higher. Science GPA is calculated based on first graded attempt of Anatomy & Physiology I, Anatomy & Physiology II, Microbiology and Chemistry (1 or 2 semesters may be required depending on course content). If needed, students are permitted to repeat ONE science course ONE time to raise science GPA.

Additionally, success in the science courses is expected, as well as a pattern of academic progress without excessive course repetitions, withdrawals, and failures. Admission is competitive and will continue until the program becomes full.

A student does not have to have all pre-requisite courses completed before applying for admission. Freshman and sophomore level courses for which the transfer student has not completed will be completed upon entry to the Nursing program and may change the duration of the program.

Transfer Credits

In addition to the University requirement of a grade of “C” or better, University courses in anatomy, physiology, microbiology, chemistry*, nutrition and statistics must have been taken within seven years of application to the University.

*Students who earn a grade below a “C” in a repeated Nursing course, or subsequently earn a grade below a “C” in any other Nursing course, will not be admitted to the program regardless of cumulative GPA. Students may not register for any Nursing course more than twice. A student who has taken a chemistry course which is non-equivalent to Neumann’s chemistry requirements may be required to complete another chemistry at their current academic institution or complete their chemistry once enrolled at Neumann University.
