Neumann University supports your right to vote!

Civic Engagement

The Civic Engagement had inklings in Franciscan thought. In St. Francis’ time, there was no existing mechanism for the care in a changing world – [The Franciscans] a new breed … who went out into the world” (Graham-Dixon, 1999) In our history and our present moment as a Franciscan community, we progress to form a just, verdant and equitable society. At Neumann, we are called to be the Good News in the world – through self-awareness, action, and impact.

Civic engagement is "working to make a difference in the civic life of our communities and developing the combination of knowledge, skills, values, and motivation to make that difference. It means promoting the quality of life in a community, through both political and non-political processes." (AACU, 2000) In addition, civic engagement is one form of a Franciscan mechanism of care. In our actions are called to participate in activities of personal and public concern that are both individually life enriching and socially beneficial to the community.

Civic engagement starts with voting and is working to make a difference in our communities. Student affairs and the Civic Engagement Committee want you to be engaged as a voter as a student!
