Neumann Orientation Team

The Neumann Orientation Team welcomes and guides new students and their families as they transition into the university community. Through leading orientation programs, facilitating connections, and modeling Neumann’s RISES values, the team helps students feel a sense of belonging, understand campus resources, and start their academic journey with confidence. 

 

Purpose

A strong Orientation Team improves student engagement and satisfaction from day one, supports retention by helping students build early connections, and reinforces a positive, student-centered campus culture. It also develops student leaders who serve as ambassadors for Neumann, strengthening peer support networks and enhancing the overall student experience.

Title: Orientation Leader
Description:
The NU Knight Orientation Leader serves as a key ambassador for Neumann University, playing an essential role in supporting new students as they transition into university life. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Provide Exceptional Support & Service: Welcome and assist new students and their families during orientation, offering guidance and information on campus facilities, resources, and university life.
  • Enhance Communication & Presentation Skills: Lead campus tours, facilitate icebreakers, and guide group discussions to foster meaningful connections among incoming students.
  • Develop Leadership & Teamwork: Serve as a small group leader for students or families, collaborate with fellow Orientation Leaders and university staff, and model Neumann University’s RISES values and mission.
  • Strengthen Organizational & Logistical Abilities: Support event operations by assisting with registration, distributing materials, coordinating schedules, and ensuring smooth program execution.
  • Build Advising & Mentorship Skills: Act as a resource to help students navigate academic and extracurricular opportunities, address concerns, and promote a sense of belonging within the university community.
  • Cultivate Cultural Competence & Empathy: Engage with students and families to support their transition to NU, providing tools and insights to help them thrive.
  • Participate in Leadership Development: Attend comprehensive training sessions focused on building leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Advance Student Success Initiatives: Contribute to the mission of the Office of Student Engagement & Orientation by helping new students transition successfully to Neumann University.
  • Perform Additional Duties as Needed: Support the orientation team with flexibility and professionalism to meet program goals.

Eligibility

Interested undergraduate students must be enrolled full-time, have successfully completed at least 15 credits at Neumann, hold a minimum 2.5 GPA, and exhibit the following criteria:

  • Active campus involvement
  • Demonstrate leadership experience (on and/or off campus)
  • Participate in ongoing trainings/meetings
  • Be in compliance with student Code of Conduct
  • Exhibit Neumann pride and awareness
