Graduate Programs in the School of Education and Human Services are designed for both currently certified teachers looking to add a certification or enhance their skills, and for those who wish to enter the field of education and become a certified teacher. We also offer programs for those working in education related fields that do not require certification. Through course work, students will acquire a wide range of knowledge and skills designed to prepare them to become educators and leaders who value student diversity and can effectively apply educational theory, best pedagogical practices, instructional technology, and formative and summative assessment.

Program Options and Admission Requirements

MS in Education (Online) is for the graduate student who wishes to earn the master’s degree in ONE year,
fully online (36 credits) 

MS in Education with Dual Teaching Certification (Early Elementary and Special Education) is for the graduate student who is seeking to become a licensed teacher in Pennsylvania.

MS in Special Education with Autism Endorsement is for the certified teacher who desires to add a special education (PK-8) teaching certificate with an Autism Endorsement. (33 credits).

MS in Education with Administrative Certification (School Principal) and PDE-approved Endorsement is for the certified teacher who wants to become a school principal (PK-12) (42 credits).

MS in Education with an Emphasis on Social Emotional Learning is for teachers who currently hold a valid Pennsylvania teaching certification and wish to pursue a graduate degree with a focus on social-emotional learning. This program will be offered in a cohort fashion at approved off-campus locations throughout the Delaware Valley.

MS in Early Elementary (Non Certification Track) Students will acquire the foundational skills to work with young children in grades PK-4.

MS in Early Elementary (with Certification) is for the graduate student who is seeking to change careers and wants to become a licensed teacher in Pennsylvania.

MS in Special Education (Non Certification track)  prepares students to teach in a variety of special education settings supporting learners with intellectual, physical, cognitive, and/or behavioral exceptionalities.

How long is your program? 21 credits to include a 6-credit, 365-day internship and successful completion of the state-mandated test are required for the principal certification

What format do you offer? On-campus

What do I need to apply? All applicants must submit the following:

  1. A completed Graduate Student Application online through www.neumann.edu
  2. Proof of completion of an approved program of graduate study in educational leadership from a regionally accredited, degree-granting institution (required minimum graduate GPA is 3.00) and official transcripts from each regionally accredited, degree granting institution attended
  3. Provides verification of three years of relevant professional experience. For the purpose of this section, relevant professional experience is “professional experience in an educational setting that is related to the educational process

What are the prerequisites? Bachelor’s degree from regionally accredited institution

  • Candidates must hold Level I or Level II teaching certificate
  • Candidates provide evidence of at least three years of successful teaching experience

 Is the GRE required? No

Is their a minimum GPA required? Yes. We look for a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

How long is your program? 12 credits.  The endorsement can be completed alone or in conjunction with the Master of Education degree

Candidates complete 45 hours of supervised field experience with at least 15 hours within an inclusive setting.  In order to receive the endorsement, the field experience must be completed and documented. The endorsement is added to a Level I or Level II teaching certificate 

What format do you offer? The program is offered through a combination of face-to-face sessions, field experience, and online learning 

What do I need to apply? All applicants must submit the following:

How long is your program? 12 credits to include 20 hours of field experience in classrooms with students diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum. Note-This endorsement may be incorporated into the Master of Science in Education
