Leadership Awards

The Leadership Awards are presented annually to the students who have shown an extraordinary contribution and commitment toward the quality of life at Neumann University through leadership.

Descriptions of the Leadership Awards are listed below:

  • Awarded to a graduating undergraduate student who embodies the character of Mary Francis Bachmann.
  • Demonstrates spiritual accomplishments by participating in Campus Ministry retreats, service opportunities, reflection opportunities or involvement in his/her church community.
  • Embodies a willingness to accept change and the resilience to persevere through challenges; and dedication to campus life.
  • Show dedication to campus life at the university through regular participation in events and activities sponsored by Campus Life Programs, Athletics and Recreation, and other university departments as well as consistent membership in at least one team, student club or organization.
  • Must be a student in good academic (minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA) and student conduct standing.
  • Upon nomination, the student will be asked to include a co-curricular/extracurricular resume detailing his/her qualifications and accomplishments in regards to this award and the student’s senior transformation paper to document growth and development.
  • Awarded to a graduating undergraduate student, in loving memory of Sister Rose Annette Brugger, OSF, who embodies a personal character that demonstrates kindness, love, and understanding both on and off-campus.
  • Exemplifies respect and appreciation for human dignity by caring for the needs of the marginalized and less fortunate in our society.
  • Demonstrates care of creation and stewardship for the environment.
  • Has made a significant commitment to service both on campus and within the larger community while a student at Neumann University.
  • Must be a student in good academic (minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA) and student conduct standing.
  • Upon nomination, the student will be asked to include a co-curricular/extracurricular resume detailing his/her qualifications and accomplishments in regards to this award.

Distinguished Leadership Award

  • A junior or senior student who exemplifies leadership through campus and/or community involvement.
  • Must be a full-time student in good academic (minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA) and student conduct standing.
  • Holds a formal leadership role within the university such as SGA including KPB, Campus Ministry, Athletics & Recreation, Campus Life Programs including clubs and organizations, Neumann Media, etc.
  • Has helped the university community envision the future, identify paths to success, and carry out a vision.
  • Has exhibited our RISES Core Values in the context of leading his/her peers on campus.
  • Upon nomination, the student will be asked to include a co-curricular/extracurricular resume detailing his/her qualifications and accomplishments in regards to this award.

Emerging Leadership Award

  • A freshman or sophomore student who exemplifies leadership through campus and/or community involvement.
  • Must be a full-time student in good academic (minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA) and student conduct standing.
  • Has been engaged in and contributed to the university community and demonstrated good citizenship.
  • Has exhibited our RISES Core Values in the context of leading his/her peers on campus.
  • Upon nomination, the student will be asked to include a co-curricular/extracurricular resume detailing his/her qualifications and accomplishments in regards to this award.

The purpose of this award is to recognize one student exemplifies each area of RISES.

Reverence:

  • Nominee honors as sacred the worth and dignity of each person.
  • Nominee celebrates their relationship as sisters and brothers with one another and all creation.
  • Nominee creates a compassionate, welcoming and reconciling community.

Integrity:

  • Nominee speaks the Truth in Love.
  • Nominee acts fairly, honestly and ethically at all times
  • Nominee accepts responsibility for the consequences for their actions.

Service:

  • Nominee serves with humility, compassion and love.
  • Nominee Challenges unjust structures and works for social transformation.
  • Nominee embraces service as a life-long commitment.

Excellence:

  • Nominee performs to the best of their ability the responsibilities entrusted to them.
  • Nominee practices cooperation, rather than competition, in the quest for excellence.
  • Nominee strives for academic achievement.

Stewardship:

  • Nominee receives gratefully, uses carefully, and shares generously the resources available to them.
  • Nominee cares for creation as a sacred gift from God.
  • Nominee promotes Catholic Social Teaching by working for peace and justice.
