Student Employment Opportunities

STUDENT ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

To participate in the FWS program, students must matriculate and meet general federal eligibility requirements, including:

  1. Citizenship: U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen
  2. Maintain satisfactory academic progress (SAP) as required by Neumann University and the Department of Education
  3. Financial need, as determined by completion of the Free Application of Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  4. Receive confirmation of approved FWS award by the Office of Financial Assistance (as stated on the award letter)
  5. Complete all required employment authorization forms, identification and necessary hiring paperwork

HIRING PROCESS

Students cannot start working until the hiring process is complete.

  1. Students are to contact the supervisor, who will schedule and conduct interviews to fill the position.
  2. Once both the student and supervisor have signed the FWS contract, the contract will be sent to the Office of Financial Assistant and Human Resources by the supervisor.
  3. If this is the student’s first time working for the University or they have not worked for the University in the last two years, the student will need to complete the required background checks, meet the COVID-19 vaccination record requirement, as well as complete a “blue packet.” Information about these three pieces will be sent directly to the student once Human Resources (HR) receives the FWS contract.
  4. Once the three pieces have been completed & processed (or the student has recently worked for the university), HR will notify the supervisor and student that access to time entry, the electronic timecard, is available. Once this is received, students may begin working.

  1. Complete the Federal Work Study Student Contract. This form will be sent to supervisors by the Office of Financial Assistance and is academic year specific.
  2. Complete the Required Background Checks sent to the student from GHRR.
  3. Upload COVID-19 Vaccination Record into the MyNU Portal.
  4. “Blue Packet” New Hire Paperwork Including:
    1. Federal I-9* Employment Eligibility Form
      *The I-9 requires ORIGINAL documents to be shown in person to the HR Office, you may choose between Option 1 or 2 below:
      1. Option 1: One document from List A on the Form 1-9 Acceptable Documents List
      2. Option 2: One document from List B AND 1 Document from List C on the Form 1-9 Acceptable Documents List
    2. Federal W-4 Form
    3. Residency Certification
